Flag football might be much less aggressive, but it can be just as competitive as regular American football. The game is played mostly like a real football game and is taken just as serious; for it has just as many rules as professional football does. It was developed, mostly, to allow players to learn good sportsmanship and not to prevent them duds of getting hurt from tackles.
Flag football is played with five to seven players per team. The field is divided into 20-yd zones with four zones. The biggest distinction from regular football is the equipment; players only need to be dressed appropriately having a belt with two flags on it. Players could wear knee pads, but it is optional. Another distinction is, a player will be “tackled” when one of their flags is pulled off. Instead of trying to get an opponent player on the ground to stop, one can just pull the flag off. A flag football game usually lasts for just less than an hour. Many people love playing the game because of all the aggressiveness and fun in tackling. However, some have passion for the structure and rules of the game themselves. And if you were one of these latter players, you might as well play flag football.
