Advances in Technology in the field of computer and television have turned American youth into couch potatoes. They do not want go to outside and rather want to get entertained at home by themselves. Why bother, when they can easily get entertainment through the things that they watch or listen to? That is why child obesity has increased over the past years; children are not being as active as they once were. Cartoons are on all daylong and they have the television stations devoted to their entertainment.
Youth football will get the heart pumping, the blood flowing, and the benefits of meeting new people. It is also a way for youngsters to learn discipline and respect. They need to associate with other children and be part of something. This will boost their self-esteem as an adult. Also, football is a great way to install values and get your child off the couch. So you should encourage your son to join American or European Football (soccer) leagues. Not only will they meet new people to become friends with, but also they will have something to make them feel useful. By acting properly and getting your child involved in youth sports, particular youth football, you are giving your child more than what the TV can give them. Sports provide lessons that will mold your child's values and guide them as they grow. However, parents should be careful of not going too far with the competitiveness that they want to embed in their child. These parents feel the need to live through their child or be heavily involved in their activities. It is good to support your football star or athlete, but then there are times when you should leave it up to them. The competitiveness could break down the child. If your child isn't having fun and is stressed from all your expectations, then they won't perform to their best ability.
