The football field is where it all goes down.  This simple field has made or broke many high school students, college students, and even professionals.  It is important for every player to first understand the field and notice where they are on the field.  Taking notice of your own position can help motivate a runner or keep a player in bounds.  It will also tell a player when they need to step it up and block the play.

Obviously, the field is divided into five chunks of field.  Each section or chunck is 20 yards with a total of 100 yards long.  The field is comprised of lines.  In fact, there are lines at mark every five yards.  Then there are shorter lines that are called has marks that are one yard intervals, but they are not physically marked.  The end zone is where all the touchdowns happen and is extended ten yards.  In total, that would make a football field 120 yards long and 160 feet wide.  You should take notice at what lies at the end of an end zone.  It is the goal posts of course.  The goal posts are important when it comes to field goals.  In which the kicker will kick the ball and hope that it goes between the two posts.  There is a goal post at both ends of the field.  The most important line on the field is the goal line.  It is what separates the end zone and field.

Once a player understands the field, it is then their duty to stay in line or gain yards for their team.  A football field is one of the most important aspects of the game, because it makes the rules.  Without noticing the yards or lines, neither team would be able to gain distance or points for a touchdown.  However, if a successful team to play football, the player needs to understand the lay out and be able to visualize the layout.  By doing this the player will become more aware of his surrounds and may even become motivated depending on how close they are to the goal line.  Therefore, even though learning the dimensions of the field is not necessary to be good at your position, it is important and can be a great motivation tool.
