The newly crowned Super Bowl Champ of 2006 is the new legend of professional football team. The Steelers is one of the major teams in the National Football League named originally as the Pittsburgh Pirates- named after the professional baseball league located in Pittsburgh. Later in 1940, they were called the Pittsburgh Steelers and are one of the oldest franchises in the league. They accompanied only 4 other teams; the Cardinals, Packers, Bears, and Giants, when they started playing.

They’re a legend today because of the many famous inductees in the Professional Football Hall of Fame. The most important figure, Mr. A. Rooney, founded the team on the 8th of July, 1933. He was the original owner of the team and was inducted in the Hall of Fame in 1964. Over the years, the Steelers have had great coaches who were inducted in the Hall of Fame. These coaches included Bill Dudley, Buddy Parker- who led them to five years of winning, Bobby Layne – led them to three of those championships. Terry Bradshaw, the announcer of Monday Night Football who recently acted in the new Sarah Jessica Paker’s film was on the Steelers in the 1970’s.

Steeler’s home has changed several times. They began at Forbs field, then Pitt Stadium and then Three Rivers. They’re constantly updating their fields and equipment- having the best to have the advantage.

Their recent Super Bowl title was one that they definitely worked hard for. They’ve been in many Super Bowl play offs, had many titles under their belt and had men like Bradshaw played for them. During the play off 2006, practically everyone was talking about them Steelers. They are one team in Pennsylvania that gets a lot of support and media’s interest. The Steelers worked hard to earn their pride and owner with the Bowl title; they took some hard hits in the game just like the other team. However, they won the title and are now a legendary team in the NFL.
